Rise Of Vedic Period

On the ruins of the Harappan civilization ,a new culture develop with the coming of aryans,this culture is know as Vedic Culture. Vedic constant the sole source of information about this culture.Nowadays of course, archaeology is adding to our knowledge.The Vedic period (or Vedic age) was a period in history during which the Vedas the oldest scriptures were composed.Which comprised of four Vedas-Rig Veda,Sama Veda,Yajur Veda,and Atharva Veda.Among them Rig Veda is believed to be the oldest.It consists of 1,028 hymns divided into parts and mandalas.The Vedas were verbal composition that were handed into several generation and generation for several years and finally they were recorded into books. They were Brahmanas, the Upanishads,the Puranas and the Aranyakas are other literary sources of this period.There were some Upavedas like Gandharva Veda (art of music), Ayurveda(Medicine), Dhanur Veda ( war tactics) and Shilpa Veda ( art of architecture). The epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, are also considered as part of Vedic literature.The word "Veda" means knowledge and Vedic literature truly reflects the wisdom of the Indo-Aryan people.
